Quick Smiles:9-year-old Branson ran a mile in the dark to get help for his injured parents after a tornado struck their car.A stranger helped Branson return to the scene and assist his parents before emergency workers arrived.Thanks to tremendous community support, the family’s recovery has been filled with hope and encouragement.When a powerful tornado hit their car, Oklahoma parents Wayne and Lindy Baker suffered severe injuries, but their son Branson emerged unscathed and immediately sprang into action.He bravely ran through the darkness for a mile until he found someone who could help, returning with a neighbor before first responders arrived.Wayne’s brother Johnny said,“I heard a ‘ding ding ding’ like hail or rocks hitting the windshield, then a large crash and the phone went dead.”Johnny described how Branson, acting like a true hero, reassured his parents before setting out for help: “The last thing Branson told them was, ‘Mom, dad, please don’t die, I will be back.’”The local community rallied around the Bakers, raising $100,000 to assist with medical bills and recovery after the ordeal.Wayne later shared,“I couldn’t be more proud to be a father.
