Delivering Good Supports Millions With New Essentials

Quick Smiles:

  • Delivering Good has provided over $3 billion in new goods to families in need.
  • Formed from two nonprofit initiatives, they now respond nationwide to disaster and poverty.
  • Leaders are committed to scaling up efforts to reach 50 million people in the coming years.

For forty years, Delivering Good has distributed brand-new clothing, toys, and home essentials to people facing poverty and disaster, at no cost to recipients.

The organization’s Basic Comforts Pack initiative helps restore comfort, dignity, and hope after crises strike.

Delivering Good traces its roots to Kids In Distressed Situations, started in 1985 by Karen Bromley, Barbara Toback, and Ezra Dabah, who recognized that children in need treasure new items just for them.

“I knew that giving a child a brand-new coat or a toy could make them feel special,” Karen Bromley shared. “It could say, you matter.”

Motivated by a desire to make a swift impact after Hurricane Katrina, Allan Ellinger launched Fashion Delivers in 2005, quickly mobilizing clothing and essentials for disaster survivors.

“I picked up the phone, called colleagues in the fashion industry, and within days, everyone said, ‘I’m in.’” recalled Allan Ellinger.

Years later, the two groups united as Delivering Good, combining their strengths to provide brand-new goods with care and dignity.

“Delivering Good has always been fueled by heart and passion—people in the industry coming together to make sure families in crisis get what they need most, and that they receive it with dignity.” said Karen Bromley.

The nonprofit has built a powerful network with thousands of partners, diverting excess inventory from waste and ensuring it reaches those who need it most.

Their trusted community partners guarantee that every item finds its intended recipient, creating hope in times of hardship.

“We started to solve a problem,” said Allan Ellinger. “We never imagined we’d still be here 40 years later—more vibrant and needed than ever.”

“Our next chapter is about scale and innovation. We’re building on 40 years of experience to reach more people, respond faster to crises, and ensure that every excess product finds its way to someone who needs it,” added Matthew Fasciano, President & CEO.

The work of Delivering Good is about more than providing clothing; it’s about helping people rebuild and find confidence for new beginnings.
