Quick Smiles:

  • Man adopts ‘Corgi,’ only to discover an unexpected mix through DNA testing.
  • Despite the surprise, their bond grows stronger than ever.
  • Waffles charms his owner with cuddles, energy, and affection.

Daniel Sarche didn’t plan to adopt a dog, but a friend’s post about rescue dogs led him to Waffles, whose big smile and unique stance instantly won him over.

Sarche had always dreamed of having a Corgi, so when Waffles was listed as one, he quickly applied to adopt him, never expecting to be chosen.

To his delight, his application succeeded, and the two became fast friends.

“I immediately fell in love with him and the feeling was mutual – he jumped into my lap to cuddle right away,” Sarche shared.

Waffles quickly settled in, joining his new owner for walks, runs, and cozy moments at home.

Curious about Waffles’ true background, Sarche decided to get a DNA test, hoping to confirm his Corgi heritage.

The results revealed Waffles is actually a blend of Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, Chihuahua, and Miniature Australian Shepherd—but not a single percent Corgi.

“I was totally surprised when I learned Waffles wasn’t a corgi, but it makes more and more sense as I get to know him,” Sarche said.

No matter his breed, Waffles has proven to be an amazing companion, showing just how rewarding unexpected surprises can be.

No matter their roots, every rescue holds the potential for a beautiful connection—and sometimes, the best friends come in the most surprising packages.
