Quick Smiles:

  • Dylan Dreyer once dreamed up a fun children’s book featuring rhymes for every Massachusetts town.
  • Social media followers celebrated her creativity, with many Massachusetts teachers cheering for the idea.
  • Dylan and her son Cal shared a magical first pitch experience at Fenway Park.

Before joining TODAY in 2012, Dylan Dreyer spent five years in Boston working for an NBC affiliate, where her love for Massachusetts inspired a unique rhyming book concept.

She imagined a book filled with fun facts about every Massachusetts town, designed especially for schools and kids.

Earlier this month, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s appearance on late night TV sparked Dylan to revisit her old project, sharing it joyfully on Instagram.

“Now, here it is for you to enjoy. Or, not enjoy like publishers told me, but dang it, I’ve always been proud of myself for this!” Dylan exclaimed.

Fans called her poem “epic,” praised it as “wicked smaaht,” and encouraged her to try publishing again, with teachers showing strong interest.

Dylan’s eldest son, Cal, 9, shares her Boston pride and love for the Red Sox; together, they threw the first pitch at Fenway Park, creating a memory to treasure.

“Calvin said ‘today was the best day of my life’. I couldn’t agree more buddy!!” Dylan shared on Instagram following their special day.

Though “Silly States” remains unpublished, Dylan has found success in children’s literature with five books, including her beloved “Misty the Cloud” series, which brings emotional learning to young readers through whimsical weather adventures.

Keep cheering for creative dreams—sometimes the best ideas just need a little more time in the sun!
