While driving home in Louisiana, firefighter Andrew Nixon sprang into action after witnessing a car engulfed in flames following a crash.

Nixon rushed toward the wreck and, despite injury, managed to smash through the windshield and pull the trapped woman out just moments before the vehicle was totally consumed.

His act was praised by Fire Chief Chris Kaufmann, who noted Nixon’s training and instincts were vital in saving a life.

“He went straight into her car and did whatever it took to get her out. Because he knew if he didn’t, she wasn’t going to make it. He was her last chance.”

This rescue brought Nixon unexpected healing after a personal family loss, reminding him of love and hope even in difficult moments.

“It just felt good to actually save somebody.”
