  • Ed Jackson becomes first to summit an unnamed 15,485-foot peak in Kyrgyzstan.
  • He overcame quadriplegia after a devastating spinal injury.
  • The expedition raised funds and hope for children with disabilities.

Ed Jackson, a retired rugby player, achieved an astonishing milestone by ascending a formerly unclimbed mountain in Asia, years after a life-altering spinal cord injury.

Diagnosed as a quadriplegic after a diving accident, Ed persevered through years of rehabilitation to not only walk again but reach a new literal and personal summit.

Supported by a dedicated team, including local shepherds and expert guide Adrian Nelhams, Ed navigated the steep glacial and rocky terrain to make history with his first ascent.

“I’ve been working towards this for so long, and for it to finally come to fruition feels incredible,” he shared.

“The climb was far more technical and demanding than I could ever have imagined, and it took absolutely everything to reach the top.”

Reflecting on the experience, Ed said, “I felt the strength of everyone who has carried me to this point. This summit isn’t just mine, it belongs to all of them too.”

The mountain will be named by local Kyrgyz children, making the achievement especially meaningful for the community and for Ed’s charity, the Millimetres to Mountains Foundation.

Funds raised from this adventure will support projects for people facing adversity in the UK and children with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan.

Ed’s feat stands as an inspiration for all who dream big and refuse to let obstacles block their path.
