Dewey Parker, a resident of an apartment building in Colorado Springs, became a hero when he scaled three stories to save his neighbor during a fire.

The neighbor was suffering from an asthma attack and was all alone in the apartment with the door locked when the EMTs arrived. Parker noticed the man struggling to breathe, so he decided to take action.

“He needed a hand. I just decided to scale up to the third floor off the balconies and unlocked the door,” said Parker.

Despite the danger, Parker’s quick thinking saved the neighbor’s life, and the fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Eight people and five animals were displaced, but no one was harmed other than the man with asthma.
