Libby Partridge, 18, was preparing to say goodbye to her beloved horse Lilly, facing the possibility of selling her to a new home.

Her plans changed suddenly when the buyer’s car broke down, giving her a few extra days with Lilly and leading to an unforgettable surprise.

On April 8, Libby discovered Lilly was expecting, a fact that would have remained hidden if the sale had gone ahead.

“I saw the dad, named Donkey, in a Facebook post and I knew we needed him,” Partridge shared.

Thinking Donkey was too small to be a father to Lilly’s foal, Libby was amazed to find that Lilly gave birth to a mule named Coco on April 21.

The joyful arrival brought immediate happiness, especially as Partridge had no prior experience with mules and found Coco’s personality delightful.

A heartwarming TikTok video documenting their story quickly went viral, drawing over 5.9 million views and sparking positive comments from all over the internet.

“The reaction online has been nothing but positive,” she said.
