Quick Smiles:

  • Pink Power Day kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with hope.
  • History will be made with a Guinness World Records attempt for DNA screenings.
  • Experts and organizations provide life-changing information in a supportive setting.

October 1st marks Pink Power Day on TODAY, launching Breast Cancer Awareness Month with uplifting events and community spirit on the plaza. The day highlights the significance of genetic screening, with attendees invited to help set a Guinness World Records title for the most people to sign up for DNA screening in one hour.

This quick, simple test can offer important insights into your health and future well-being. Jill Martin and Dr. Elisa Port, Chief Breast Surgeon at Mount Sinai, will be present to share valuable expertise and encouragement throughout this historic occasion.

“Knowledge is power when it comes to your health,” says Port.

“Genetic testing provides actionable information about certain cancer risks for which there is both early detection and even prevention. Not having a family history does not let you off the hook — many people still carry mutations without one.”

Participants will also meet representatives from JScreen, who are dedicated to making genetic testing accessible and empowering individuals to take charge of their health. JScreen’s test screens 48 genes linked to hereditary cancer, offering crucial insights including major genes like BRCA1 and BRCA2.

If you’d like to be part of the event, come to Rockefeller Plaza (entrance on 48th Street) by 5:00 AM. The first 275 adults to register will receive a Pink Power Pass, granting official entry into the world record attempt and a commemorative certificate if the record is achieved.

We’re excited to see the difference we can make together—thank you for helping create positive change!
