Faizan Choudhry’s iPhone 14 Pro Max spent over two months underwater after slipping away while tubing on the Delaware River. Incredibly, the phone was found and returned, still functioning with only a slightly blurry camera.

Choudhry was awestruck to see the device power up for the first time after so long submerged. His photos and data were perfectly preserved, making the reunion all the more special.

“Believe it or not, it works perfectly fine,” Choudhry said.

Retiree Maddy Wells spotted the iPhone during her canoe trip and, after drying it off, powered it on. The “lost phone” message provided a contact number, which helped her reach Choudhry directly.

“When it finally lit up, it actually said July 4th. I was shocked. That means the phone was in the water for two and a half months,” Ms. Wells shared.

Initially cautious, Choudhry was convinced of Wells’ good intentions when she texted a photo of the phone. The two arranged to meet at the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead Museum for the exchange.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” said Choudhry. “I was just mind-blown.”

Wells expressed joy in reuniting the phone with its owner, calling the experience a “happy ending.” Both were all smiles during the reunion, and Choudhry thanked Wells with a Visa gift card for her kindness.
