  • Callie the cockapoo tells her owner to go to bed at 9:30 p.m. every night
  • Owner Bethany Charles says Callie loves sleep and routine
  • Callie also wakes Charles up in the morning with a toy or sock

Callie the cockapoo has a unique way of showing her love for her owner, Bethany Charles. Every night at 9:30 p.m., Callie comes into the room where Charles is sitting and gives her a look that says one thing: bedtime. Charles, from Cardiff, Wales, shared a video of this adorable routine on TikTok under the handle @cockapoocallie_.

Charles told Newsweek, “She started doing it maybe around half a year ago. She absolutely loves her sleep and loves bedtime, so I think she just gets too excited about it. I think cockapoos like a routine, too.” Interestingly, research has identified a correlation between pet ownership and poorer sleep. However, in Charles’ case, Callie takes an active role in helping her get to bed early and get lots of rest.

Callie sleeps around nine hours a night and shares a room with Charles. “We had a family cockapoo, so when I moved out for the first time, I just knew I had to get one ASAP to make my house complete,” Charles said. “We got Callie around a month or so after moving into our first home in June 2022.”

Charles describes Callie as “very demanding” and says she loves bossing them around, collecting socks, going on long walks with her frisbee, howling, and playing in her ball pit. In addition to her bedtime routine, Callie also wakes Charles up in the morning by bringing her a toy, sock, or anything she can find.

To cope with Callie’s bedtime demands, Charles usually ignores her for a bit but goes to bed around 10ish. Despite her bossiness, Charles wouldn’t have it any other way, saying, “She rules the house, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
