  • Kieran Hedley rescued a mangy pup from a temple in Bali in 2020 and enlisted the help of Bali Paws for the vaccination and treatment for its skin condition.
  • COVID-19 forced Hedley to leave Bali but not until the pup was adopted by a woman who took the pup home to Italy.
  • More than 2 years later, they are reunited in Italy and Hedley is happy that the dog is thriving and happy with her forever family.

While on a trip to Bali in 2020, Kieran Hedley chanced upon a small scraggly dog covered in scabs staying in a small piece of cardboard in a temple.

He thought that maybe the dog was not moving from its spot as it was waiting for its owner to come back for him. But no one returned for the dog and so he wrapped the dog in his shirt and took the dog home to the villa where he was staying.

The dog was so scared that it could not stop from shaking.  Hedley asked for help from his friend at Bali Paws on what to do as the organization rehomed stray animals.

Bali Paws facilitated the vaccination and treatment of the dog.  Although he was reluctant to take care of the pup because of his financial status and nomadic lifestyle, he still took the pup in.

Hedley said, “Those first two weeks were some of the most inspiring days of my life. Falling asleep watching this beautiful little puppy that was so timid, so terrified, so scared, so fragile.”

The attention and care that Hedley showered on the pup which he named Bubbles, enabled it to gain confidence.  It was turning into a playful pup that was learning to be around people.

But COVID-19 reared its ugly head and Hedley had to leave Bali.  Since he could not bring Bubbles with him, he made sure that the pup would have someone to take care of her.

Fortunately, a woman stepped up and adopted Bubbles.  She even brought Bubbles home with her to Italy.

Two and a half years later, when COVID-19 restrictions were eased, Hedley traveled to Italy and reunited with Bubbles.  Hedley could not believe that Bubbles has defied the odds and has completely transformed into a loving and beautiful dog.

Hadley said that Bubbles constantly inspires her whenever he thinks of her. “She changed my life in a very positive way.”
