  • Dennis the disabled puppy was rescued after being found in a dumpster.
  • Staff at Blue Cross Burford nursed him back to health with special care.
  • He has now joined a caring family just in time for his first Christmas.

After being found abandoned and injured in South Oxfordshire, a tiny six-week-old terrier puppy named Dennis has experienced a heartwarming transformation.

The deaf and half-blind pup was rushed to a veterinarian and then cared for at the Blue Cross’s rescue center, where staff used creative cues to help him adapt and recover.

“I didn’t expect him to be so small,” said Anouska, the admissions coordinator at Blue Cross Burford.

Foster care became the place where Dennis learned how to navigate the world and reveal his spirited personality.

His confidence blossomed as he mapped out his foster home, demonstrating resilience and charm to everyone who met him.

“He would sort of charge around, and within the first couple of days, he’d really laid out a map of his foster carer’s home,” shared Anouska.

Now, Dennis has started a joyful new chapter with his devoted forever family, proving the power of compassion and second chances.
