When Bret Michaels, the iconic rocker, heard about a brave husky who stepped up in a major way to save a kitten’s life, he just knew he had to welcome the dog into his home!

This heartwarming tale starts with a 6-year-old husky — coincidentally also named Bret Michaels — who went above and beyond when a tiny kitten was in dire need. How? He made a life-saving blood donation! Yep, you read that right.

As the Nebraska Humane Society revealed on Facebook, “canine blood can be transfused into felines.”

This courageous act captured the attention of many, but it struck a special chord with rocker Bret Michaels.

Speaking to People Magazine, he shared, “I could not have been more touched and more honored to adopt Bret Michaels the husky, knowing that he gave blood to save the life of a kitten.”

Diving deeper into the backstory, the Nebraska Humane Society detailed the urgency of the situation. They had three stray kittens who were “dirty, cold, and covered in fleas.”

After some tender care, two began to bounce back, but one little furball exhibited alarming signs pointing to flea anemia. The clock was ticking, and a hero was needed. Enter Bret Michaels the husky with his life-saving gift!

For the human Bret Michaels, this adoption came at a poignant time. He shared the emotional loss of his 14-year-old German shepherd Phoenix, earlier this year.

“So this story brought a smile back into my family’s life,” he explained. “We have always donated to incredible pet drives and charities, and will continue to [home] Bret Jr., who … has now found a loving family that also includes our two rescue shepherds, Nova and Draco.”
