Roosters take some time before they start crowing, and it can be a delightful surprise when they finally try.

At Pygmy Acres, a tiny farm filled with chickens, turkeys, and goats, one determined young rooster gave his best effort to crow for the very first time.

“Ughughugh-uhhhhhhhh!”

His first attempt sounded as if he had his head in a bucket of water, but the little rooster didn’t give up and was even seen trying to practice in private before joining the others.

Though another rooster named Stew had a more polished crow, practice soon helped the young rooster gain confidence and volume—and now he’s likely waking the whole neighborhood with pride.

Farm life at Pygmy Acres is full of simple joys, from a mom chasing after her boys and their endless collection of rocks, to her adventures in mastering sourdough in between caring for her animal friends.

These small victories and heartwarming moments make every day on the farm special.
