  • A shelter was warned about an irritable bulldog that was coming to their home.
  • When Frankfort arrived at the shelter, he had a frown on his face and an aggressive and unpredictable behavior.
  • Shelter staff patiently taught him manners and showered him with love and care that turned his frown into the sweetest smile.

Frankfort, a bulldog, came into the Speranza Animal Rescue with a warning: Irritable.

It did not help that his grumpy face matched his demeanor — acting aggressively and unpredictably. Rescue staff knew it was going to be a challenge but they took Frank head on.

According to their Facebook post, “He was found as a stray and he was less than friendly. His permanent RBF was accompanied by low growls and snarls … This little gremlin is short in stature, but has an attitude for days. But we are so in love already.”

The ‘Oh no, another big attitude,’ warning certainly did not discourage them as they showed Frank big love.

With positive reinforcements, soon, Frank learned some manners — walking on leash and asking for what he wanted without showing aggression.  And day by day, Frank’s perpetual frown slowly turned into the sweetest smile.

Rescue representative Janine Guido is thrilled to announce that “Frankfort is making good progress within the rescue and with the volunteers! He doesn’t greet people with growls anymore, which is a win for all of us.”

Frank will also be continuing his lessons on how to be a good boy with a foster family and who knows, adoption soon!

But for now, he is enjoying his walks and playing with his toys with the people who patiently taught him love and believed that underneath the frowns is a sweet dog.

We wish you all the best, Frank!
