In the video, shared by the account @homer_the_hounddog, Homer appears to be innocently cuddling up to two children on a couch. But a closer inspection reveals that he’s subtly inching his way towards a plate of food left nearby.

Homer cleverly chose to snuggle up to the younger child, while the older sibling watched on, amused by his antics. As the owner pointed out, “it’s the oldest trick in the book.”

The family is well-accustomed to Homer’s playful behavior. “Homer will try getting food daily,” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. This isn’t surprising, considering hounds are known to be particularly food-motivated.

“He knows better than to do it while we are eating,” the owner explained. “But if we leave the plate in the room alone, then it’s free game.”
