Stray Dog Who Had Cancer Now In Remission After Given Love and Care
- This Is Houston cofounder Laura Forma finds a stray dog with a huge mass on his face.
- They brought the dog, Bear, to a veterinarian and had the huge mass removed and treated for a host of other medical conditions.
- Bear is now in remission and his new mom Laura Forma and family are bent on giving him all the love, attention and care for the rest of his days.
Bear has been living all his life on the streets. This Is Houston cofounder Laura Forma said that when they first saw Bear, he was so afraid of them and he had a huge mass on his face.
Forma said that Bear needed immediate medical attention. “The mass weighed three and a half pounds when it was surgically removed. It’s sad to think he had to lug that thing around for so long.”
Aside from the huge mass, he also had lymphoma, carcinoma, heart failure and heartworm disease. The eight-year-old Bear was given just months to live by the veterinarian.
Forma and her family decided to adopt Bear and was determined to give Bear the best life that she could. Forma said, “He goes to the vet weekly, [and] we’re happy to report that he’s been in remission for a couple months now. As of today, there are no signs of cancer. He’s doing great!”
Bear is a perfect example of what love and care can do. And judging by his happy disposition, you would never know what he went through all those eight years that he was living on the streets.
Forma said, “He’s rainbows and sunshine. He’ll wake up pacing around the house with a smile, and woofing at us. He starts every day off being happy.”
Bear now enjoys his favorite car rides, love and snuggles from his family. Forma cherishes each second that she is with Bear as he has brought so much joy to her and her family.
Forma said, “He exuberates life and happiness. It’s nearly impossible to be around him, or even look at him and not smile. When he’s not there, you can just feel that something is missing. He makes us want to spend our days giving him all the opportunities to experience the joys of life while he still can.”
We wish you continued good health and life, Bear.
