Waking a slumbering dog can at times be a challenge. However, Adrian Joseph, a guitarist and DJ, discovered an amusingly effective way to coax his sleeping Staffordshire bull terrier, Jessie, from her dreams. The magic trick? The simple sound of opening a cheese container.

This quirky method never fails. Despite Joseph’s late-night returns, Jessie generally remains peacefully asleep. However, as soon as the lid of the cheese box pops open, it serves as an immediate alarm clock for the dog, who charges downstairs excitedly.

Joseph, in a personal conversation, emphasized that “nothing else comes close” to sparking Jessie’s curiosity like a piece of cheddar. Even when her family comes home, she doesn’t even flutter an eye, but if there’s cheese nearby, she’s instantly alert.

Joseph joked, “If she hears that sound of the cheese container opening, she will rise from the dead and come running.” According to him, Jessie’s special fondness for cheese dates back to when she was a puppy. “She even knows all the different packages it comes in, too,” he added.

Joseph decided to share Jessie’s eccentric love for cheese with the world through TikTok, under the handle @adrianjosephmusic. The video features him quietly unsealing the cheese container late at night, followed by Jessie’s rapid descent downstairs. Although cheese seems to have an almost hypnotic effect on Jessie, it’s important to remember that not all dogs may react the same way. As per the American Kennel Club, while cheese is a good source of protein, calcium, vitamin A, and essential fatty acids, it should only be given in moderation. Dogs with lactose intolerance could exhibit signs of digestive discomfort after consuming cheese.

However, Jessie is all about the cheddar. After her delicious encounter with the snack, she quickly runs back to bed. “Once she realizes the cheese fest is over, she waddles back up and goes back to sleep,” Joseph explained. But while the cheese container is out, Jessie will patiently wait for her portion.

Joseph finds the entire scenario hilarious. “I love it, and I find it hilarious that she doesn’t even open her eyes when I come home from work, but when it comes to cheese, it’s a whole different story,” he shared.
