Gunner, a lovable pup from Naples, Florida, recently won over the internet with his clear preference for the early riser in the house – his dad. The charming moment was captured when Gunner’s mom took over the early morning shift, allowing dad some extra sleep time.

Gunner’s mom set the scene on TikTok under the username gunner.chocolatelab, stating, “POV: you get up early with your puppy so dad can sleep in and realize you’re actually just the spare human.” She humorously added, “[I Don’t Know] who is more upset right now…”

Gunner’s mom, Tricia, a 35-year-old lively spirit, disclosed that she and her partner had been caring for the three-month-old puppy since he was ten weeks old.

She recounted, “In the video, he is sitting outside my bedroom door early in the morning waiting for my partner to wake up. Normally, he’s the one who spends early mornings with Gunner, but that day I decided to let him sleep in and took over the morning shift, although Gunner didn’t seem too pleased.”

Despite being stuck indoors due to tropical storm Debby, Tricia and Gunner managed to enjoy a playful morning together. They engaged in indoor play with toys, creating their distinct bond while waiting for the puppy’s favorite person to awaken.

Tricia shared, “Normally I would have taken him outside, but we were stuck indoors due to the storm. When I sent a video of Gunner outside the bedroom door to my partner, he came out immediately, saying it was heartbreaking. It’s not an issue being the ‘spare human,’ I know they both love me!”
