Young Boy Spreads Holiday Cheer with 400 Hospital Gifts
Quick Smiles:
- Young Elliott Hole returns to hospitals with 400 Christmas gifts for fellow patients.
- Community support floods in through an Amazon Wishlist, gathering over 440 gifts.
- Elliott’s journey with leukemia inspires acts of kindness and joy.
In a beautiful act of generosity, four-year-old Elliott Hole, who is bravely battling leukemia, decided to spread some holiday cheer by delivering over 400 bags of Christmas presents to children’s hospitals where he had received treatment.
Elliott and his mother, Harley, took it upon themselves to give back during the festive season by distributing advent calendars and delightful goodies to entertain kids during the holidays.
Harley, a hairdresser from Kent, England, orchestrated an Amazon Wishlist, allowing community members to contribute gifts. The response was overwhelming, with 346 items collected to fill party bags with chocolates, games, bubbles, stickers, stationery, and more.
These gifts were then transported in crates to three local hospitals: the Royal Marsden in Sutton, Kings College in London, and Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough.
“The reception from the patients was brilliant. The nurses were all amazed by how much there was. We wheeled in this huge crate of presents,” Harley shared.
Reflecting on their journey, Harley recounted that Elliott was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia after he began limping in January 2022. The diagnosis led to a three-year treatment plan involving daily chemotherapy, set to conclude in March.
“I sometimes forget what we have been through. When I hear other families’ stories, I think ‘wow that’s awful’—then I remember that we are that family too,” Harley expressed.
Despite the challenges, Elliott remains a beacon of kindness and resilience. “He is quite strong-willed—and just powers through,” Harley said of her son.
Harley emphasized the significance of the gift bags, “The kids love it, and it is nice to know that people are with you, standing alongside you.”
The community’s support was remarkable, and Harley noted, “It was heartwarming to see how many people got involved.”
As Elliott nears the end of his treatment, he is beginning to enjoy new activities, including playing soccer. Harley is overjoyed at this milestone, stating, “It is a milestone that obviously not all children get to reach.”
Elliott’s story serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of community and compassion, encouraging others to share the joy.
