Country Star Foots $250,000 Bill for Fan’s Court Damages – And He Didn’t Even Know About the Case!
Quick Smiles:
- Country music sensation Luke Combs steps up to help a fan who was fined $250,000 for selling merchandise with his likeness.
- Combs generously doubles the $5,500 locked in the fan’s Amazon account, ensuring she doesn’t have to worry about the hefty fine.
- In a twist of kindness, Combs decides to sell an official tumbler with proceeds going to the fan’s medical bills.
When Luke Combs, the country music superstar, discovered that a devoted fan was slapped with a whopping $250,000 fine for selling merchandise featuring his image, he didn’t miss a beat before stepping in to lend a helping hand.
The story begins with a company hired by Combs’ management, who identified Nicol Harness, a Florida resident, as selling tumblers and t-shirts adorned with Combs’ likeness on Amazon. The company took Harness to court, where they won a $250,000 damages judgment. Unfortunately, Harness, who suffers from congestive heart failure, had no means to pay this staggering sum.
Combs shared on social media, “She told me she was absolutely shocked by this. I’m so apologetic. Talking to her, it makes me sick honestly that this would happen, especially at the holiday.”
Harness had only sold 18 tumblers, earning a total of $360. She was unaware that she had been targeted in an October lawsuit against illegal online vendors. Combs explained, “So, we do have a company that goes after folks, only supposedly large corporations operating internationally that make millions and millions of dollars, making counterfeit T-shirts, things of that nature run illegal businesses. And apparently this woman, Nicol, has somehow gotten wrapped into that.”
Harness had $5,500 locked in her Amazon account, which the court ordered to be put towards the $250,000 she owed Combs. But Combs, with a heart as big as his voice, decided to double that amount and send her $11,000. He said, “She was never supposed to be involved in anything like this.”

But Combs didn’t stop there. He also decided to license an official tumbler to sell on his online stores, with all proceeds going towards Harness’ medical bills.
He even invited Nicol and her family to a show, saying, “I can give her a hug and say sorry in person. And yeah, I love you guys. I just wanted to clear that up because it makes me sick for anybody to be thinking I’m this kind of person.”
In a twist of irony, WFLA Tampa reports that while in Illinois, court orders and lawsuits can be served via email, in Florida, where Harness resides, legal notices must be served in person. Unfortunately, Harness’ notice was buried in her junk email folder.
So, let’s hear it for Luke Combs, the country star with a heart of gold, who reminds us that kindness and understanding are always in style. Share this story of a considerate and responsible celebrity with your friends!
