Cynthia Carter has left a lasting impression on everyone who has had the pleasure of meeting her.

She’s 57 years old and has been working at Popeyes in New Orleans for over 30 years. A lot has happened over time, but one of the most memorable events of her career came from a casual customer who came in while the city was still struggling from Hurricane Katrina’s damage.

The customer who came through the drive-through made his order memorable by singing it in a catchy melody.

“He said, ‘I need a two-piece, white meat, spicy, with frIIIIIIIES,’” Cynthia happily recalled. 

Cynthia, or Ms. Cynthia, as she is known to many, began putting her own spin on how she takes orders as a result of this fortunate encounter. She uses a variety of entertaining words and nicknames in addition to singing, all while maintaining her positive nature.

Ms. Cynthia’s unique approach to collecting orders initially drew just local attention, but when a video of her went viral, people from all across the country discovered this hidden gem.

“I’m a people person,” she said. “Somebody’s got to make somebody else’s day.”

Some have asked whether Ms. Cynthia’s contagious charm and upbeat attitude are an act, but she assures that she “don’t play” and that God is a major source of her joy. 

“God keeps you going,” she said. “God gives you peace of mind.”

Ms. Cynthia has liked her time at Popeyes, but as she looks forward to the future, she believes her career here may be ending soon. She doesn’t have any specific plans, but she wants to devote herself full-time to “God’s work.”

As sad as this news is for her adoring admirers, she hasn’t yet given her two-week notice. So, until then, patrons can anticipate the same cheerful atmosphere they’ve come to expect from their local Popeyes!
