A woman returned home one Wednesday morning to an unexpected sight: her golden retriever, Chase, was stuck on the roof, unable to get down.

In a video posted on TikTok by @alyssathompsn1, Chase can be seen standing on the roof, wagging his tail as his owner approaches in her car.

Despite her best efforts, the woman couldn’t coax Chase down from his high perch.

“So my roommate came home to my golden on our roof. How does a golden do this?” she exclaimed.

After struggling for a while, she decided to call for help. Firefighters quickly arrived and safely brought Chase down from the roof.

“After so much drama (literally acting dead) Our local fire department came to the rescue. Chase would like to say thank you to the firemen that showed up to his rescue.”

A caption shared with the video reads: “Chase is thankful to be back on the ground to say the least.. But I think he enjoyed the view. THANK YOU again to the firefighters who came and got him.”

The video quickly gained traction on social media, amassing over 1.1 million views and 144,100 likes on TikTok.

One user, Weratedogs, commented: “He’s just up there like ‘OH HI MOM! you should see the view from up here.’”

Kennedy added: “That roof picture with the tongue out would be my wallpaper forever.”

Tristan Henry wrote: “Golden retrievers and orange cats have to share some form of dna.”

Allyson Bird remarked: “My brother is a firefighter and I can bet without a doubt this call was these guys’ favorite of the day.”

In an article from 2021, it was mentioned that dogs possess intelligence comparable to a toddler’s and can learn between 100 and 200 words.

So, it’s no surprise that Chase might have remembered words like “roof” or “help.”

The American Kennel Club (AKC) also noted that dogs can do simple arithmetic, which helps them in various situations, such as ensuring all their pups are present.

“The ability to count and do simple arithmetic might seem to be a superfluous skill for dogs, but it is a useful ability,” the AKC explained.
