  • A South Dakota couple fostered a litter of orphaned kittens with a huge size difference between two siblings, Fleece and Flannel.
  • The photo of tiny Fleece with her much bigger brother Flannel went viral, charming cat lovers online.
  • Volunteers are providing loving care as each kitten shows a unique personality and strength.

A South Dakota couple set out to help four orphaned kittens and quickly became the focus of an internet sensation thanks to two adorable siblings. Fleece, the delicate runt, and Flannel, described as “an absolute brick of a kitten,” warmed hearts after their foster shared a photo on Reddit.

Their sisters, Cotton and Sherpa, are in between in size, but it was the striking difference between Fleece and Flannel that drew over 70,000 upvotes.

The kittens, only 4 to 5 weeks old, are adjusting to life without their mother with help from volunteers at A Place for Meow Rescue in Rapid City.

“I love watching the two of them together, not only because of their size but also their different personalities,” the foster caregiver shared.

Veterinary research shows that runts like Fleece can sometimes experience compensatory growth, though they face more early-life hurdles than larger siblings.

The internet community loved the story, with many users sharing their own tales of small and large cat siblings and celebrating the kittens’ cuteness.

Stories like these remind us how love, care, and a little bit of cuteness can brighten everyone’s day.
