In an incredible display of skill and composure, young pilot Taylor Hash successfully landed a Diamond Star single-engine aircraft without a front tire, thanks to the guidance of veteran pilot Chris Yates.

Hash had lost part of her landing gear during takeoff, and was only on her third-ever solo flight, but Yates was able to calm her down and guide her through an emergency landing.

Yates, a former director of aviation at SpaceX, even shared a personal connection with Hash, telling her, “Taylor, my daughter’s name is Taylor and I taught her to fly! We’re gonna be just fine kiddo.”

His guidance and encouragement helped Hash remain focused and confident during the landing.

Despite the frightening incident, Hash has no plans to give up flying. “I love flying and I love being up there,” she said in an interview with NBC News. “It’s a little scary, but it’s worth it.”
