Quick Smiles:

  • Charity Commission found no widespread wrongdoing in Sentebale.
  • Leaders are focused on protecting the charity’s mission and the children it serves.
  • The chair remains committed to guiding Sentebale’s recovery and renewal.

Prince Harry stepped down as Sentebale’s patron in March amid public disagreement, and co-founder Prince Seeiso also stepped aside; the Charity Commission later found no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying, harassment, misogyny or misogynoir. The community is hopeful as leaders are reminded to keep the charity’s vital work focused on supporting children.

“Unsurprisingly, the Commission makes no findings of wrongdoing in relation to Sentebale’s Co-Founder and former Patron, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. They also found no evidence of widespread bullying, harassment or misogyny and misogynoir at the charity, as falsely claimed by the current Chair,” the statement reads.

“Despite all that, their report falls troublingly short in many regards, primarily the fact that the consequences of the current Chair’s actions will not be borne by her — but by the children who rely on Sentebale’s support,” the spokesperson added.

“Despite the recent turbulence, we will always be inspired by the vision of our Founders, Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso, who established Sentebale in memory of their precious mothers, Princess Diana and Queen ‘Mamohato,” Sophie Chandauka said.

“To all who believe in our mission: please walk with us as Sentebale recovers, renews, and rises to meet the hopes and expectations of the next generation.”

An Instagram post that originally accompanied coverage celebrated Sentebale’s work with images highlighting the children and communities supported by the charity. The post reinforced the organization’s ongoing commitment to recovery and hope as leaders work to move forward together.
