US Air Force Technical Sergeant Tracy experienced a touching reunion this holiday season, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated nonprofit.

While stationed in the Middle East, she encountered a stray kitten on her base, an orange tabby she affectionately named Walter.

Walter quickly became a source of comfort for Tracy, providing companionship in a place far from home.

As her deployment was coming to an end, the thought of leaving Walter behind was unbearable.

The risks of starvation or euthanasia for the little feline were too great.

In her quest to bring Walter home, Tracy reached out to Paws of War, a New York-based organization led by veterans.

This group specializes in rescuing animals that US soldiers bond with while deployed.

The process of rescuing such animals can be costly, sometimes reaching up to $10,000.

This includes expenses for plane tickets, medical procedures, and necessary paperwork with various governments.

However, Walter’s journey home was successfully orchestrated just in time for Christmas.

After arriving in New York, Walter was transported to New Hampshire by Paws of War volunteer and US Army veteran Dereck Cartwright.

There, he was joyfully reunited with Sgt. Tracy’s husband.

Robert Misseri from Paws of War expressed,

“[It’s] the least we can do for these service members who are sacrificing so much, not only their safety—they are going to be away from their families this holiday, they are in a faraway place, a dangerous place.”

This special delivery not only brought a beloved pet home but also highlighted the deep connections formed between service members and animals during deployments.

For Tracy, it was a Christmas wish fulfilled, bringing warmth and joy to her family.
