In a touching turn of events, 8-year-old Zayin Berry stumbled upon a group of kids mistreating a feral kitten.

Determined to help, Zayin knew he couldn’t confront them directly.

Instead, he offered a trade—his beloved skateboard for a promise that the kitten would be left unharmed.

This act of diplomacy worked wonders, and the kitten, now named Peaches, quickly became Zayin’s “best friend.”

Zayin’s mom shared, “He just fell in love with it, and you could see it… you could see the cat just loved him.”

Once Peaches was safe at home, the Berrys realized the kitten needed urgent medical attention.

His breathing was labored, and he suffered from an eye infection.

A visit to the local humane society revealed that Peaches required surgery to remove the infected eye.

Thankfully, the operation was successful, and Peaches is now on the mend.

A representative from the humane society praised Zayin’s actions, saying, “For Zayin to have that care and that drive at such a young age is honestly outstanding.”

In recognition of Zayin’s selfless act, the humane society and a skateboard retailer teamed up to present him with a gift card for a new skateboard.

Zayin eagerly visited their store to design a skateboard to his liking, proving that kindness often finds its way back to you.

Zayin’s mom explained, “We explained to him that he [Peaches] was going to lose his eye, but he said that was ‘fine as long as he can live because that’s my best friend.’”
