Quick Smiles:

  • Worm Moon lit up skies on March 3 as winter’s final full moon.
  • Rare Blood Moon glowed crimson during total lunar eclipse.
  • Beautiful photos captured its rise over global cities.

The Worm Moon arrived on March 3, signaling spring’s joyful approach with blooming flowers and greener grass ahead.

This year’s spectacle doubled as a Blood Moon, turning the lunar surface a striking red hue.

“During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon appears dark red or orange. This is because our planet blocks most of the Sun’s light from reaching the Moon, and the light that does reach the lunar surface is filtered through a thick slice of Earth’s atmosphere. It’s as if all of the world’s sunrises and sunsets are projected onto the Moon,” NASA explains.

“The Worm Moon rises over cities around the world, including New York, Frankfurt, and Buenos Aires, on Monday night,” shared a captivating Instagram post.

“Stepping in from my balcony, it’s 2:20 a.m. in Santa Cruz, CA. I’m steps from Seacliff Beach. Foggy weather, but the universe always provides! We are halfway there!”

These breathtaking sights remind us to pause and appreciate nature’s wonders as seasons shift.

Celebrate the new beginnings—share your spring sky photos with loved ones!
