Rachel Webster, 32, and her husband Tyler, 33, are no strangers to fostering dogs. Living in Ohio with their three children, the Websters have fostered over 140 dogs. This year, Carly became their 141st foster dog.

Carly’s journey to the Websters wasn’t easy. After being used repeatedly for breeding and suffering abuse, she was given away by another breeder. A kind-hearted individual tried to find Carly a proper home, but the initial family who took her in surrendered her, labeling her “a terrible dog.”

Thankfully, this good citizen directed Carly to a rescue facility instead. When Rachel saw Carly’s photo on Planned Pethood’s site, she felt compelled “to step up to foster her.”

Carly faced numerous health challenges, including severe ear infections. The veterinarian couldn’t determine her exact age, and Rachel shared that Carly had marks on her muzzle, suggesting it may have been “taped shut.”

“To this day she never barks, which breaks my heart to think she was heavily punished for doing so,” Rachel said.

Despite her traumatic past, Carly quickly adapted to the Websters’ home, forming a particularly strong bond with their 5-year-old daughter, Kennedy.

While the Webster children are accustomed to fostering dogs, Carly was different. She shadowed Kennedy, watching her play and running around with her. Kennedy couldn’t sleep unless Carly was in the room with her, and “they quickly became best friends.”

Kennedy tearfully expressed to her parents that she “never wanted Carly to get adopted by another family and that she just loved her so much,” Rachel recounted.

Recognizing the special connection between Kennedy and Carly, the Websters decided to adopt Carly for Kennedy’s fifth birthday.

“Kennedy says her favorite thing to do with Carly is to cuddle and watch TV and decided her nickname was Perfect Angel,” Rachel said.

The video shows Kennedy and Carly joyfully running in their backyard, with Kennedy exclaiming in excitement before they tumble together. Kennedy hugs Carly tightly, telling her she loves her, before they get up and run again.

Rachel captioned the video: “Our puppy mill foster Carly made it impossible for us to not adopt her when she chose our daughter as her human. Sometimes they adopt us.”

TikTok users were deeply touched by the video. One user commented, “You can just see the love that dog has for her.”

“This is what heaven at the rainbow bridge sounds like,” another said, while one wrote, “I want to give your puppy a big cuddle.”

A particularly poignant comment read: “She finally has a baby she can keep forever.”

Rachel shared that Carly “loved” the toys they got for her and would “even carry them and place them in a safe spot as if they were her babies.”

“The only thing she is ever guilty of is chewing up a toy or being stubborn about coming inside if it’s a nice day. In those cases, she will come in if you first give her a belly rub,” Rachel added.

Besides being Kennedy’s “perfect angel,” Carly is also “a wonderful dog to every new foster that comes through our home.”
