Wanted: Adoptive family for the extraordinary-looking but super fun dog
- Kleo is a special looking dog with a crooked face and an underbite.
- Kleo has not been adopted and was put in a euthanasia list at an animal shelter.
- She however found a foster mom, Brianne, who takes care of her until she gets her perfect family match.
With a seemingly crooked face and an underbite, Kleo looks different from most dogs. This is probably one of the reasons why families are elusive to adopt her, which made her to the euthanasia list at a San Antonio, Texas animal shelter.
But A Place for Ace rescue in Massachusetts founder Meagan Hanley begs to differ. Meagan instantly fell in love with Kleo the moment she saw her photo. She then went to get Kleo and in a jiff, she was on her way to Massachusetts, and has found a family and foster home in Boston.
Brianne Miers, Kleo’s foster mom, shared that despite how odd Kleo looked like, she knew there is something special about her. Kleo was a ball of energy 24/7!
“Kleo makes the most out of every day,” Brianne said. “She truly has a zest for life — I joke that when I open up her crate door in the morning, it’s like she’s being shot out of a cannon. She’s so, so smart.”
Brianne also shared how Kleo acts exactly like a normal pup, except for a snort she lets out when she gets excited, and the messy way she eats and drinks because of her underbite.
“She has a little snort when she gets excited, and due to her underbite, she can be a bit messy when drinking water or eating a crunchy treat,” Brianne said. “Otherwise, she’s a normal happy, healthy dog.”
Brianne, who fostered quite a few dogs before, is just so constantly amazed by what Kleo is, flaws and all!
“Kleo came up on transport with 20 other dogs, and they all found great families fairly quickly,” Brianne said. “Unfortunately, she hasn’t received any serious interest.”
While most people would first notice how Kleo looks and sometimes, sadly, it turns them off, Kleo is such an active dog, and can be a great running companion. Nobody would ever get bored with Kleo in the house, because she likes to have fun all the time!
According to her foster mom, Kleo is simply looking for love and acceptance — like most of the dogs do. Brianne is not losing hope that eventually, the right family will come along and see Kleo just the way she is.
“It will take someone special to want her, crooked face and all. More importantly than falling in love with her looks, though, the adopter has to want a dog with her high energy level and intelligence, and have the time to give her lots of exercise and mental stimulation. We know the perfect home is out there!” Brianne said in high hopes.
