  • Katelyn noticed that her 2-year-old daughter Jalayne loves corgis as much as Queen Elizabeth II.
  • She decided to dress the little girl like the Queen and share some photos to the Royal Family.
  • They were surprised to receive a response letter from the Queen, who called her outfit “splendid”!

While other kids were dressed up as fantastical creatures or superheroes on Halloween, 2-year-old Jalayne Sutherland dressed up as royalty. And she ended up catching the attention of the Queen herself!

The adorable toddler’s mom, Katelyn Sutherland, noticed how much Jalayne loved corgis — just like Queen Elizabeth II. So she decided to dress her up like the Queen and have her accompanied by her beloved corgis.

Katelyn shared, “Ever since Jalayne was born the two corgis have been best friends with her. Especially since she started eating and sneaking them food, they loved her even more.”

Katelyn put together a pale blue coat, a brooch, and pearls. She then curled a wig and glued it onto a matching hat.

The outfit turned out marvelous!

Katelyn received an overwhelming positive response from friends and relatives, that she was inspired to share the pictures with the Queen herself.

She realized that it was unlikely that the royal family would even take the time to read, let alone respond, to a letter from someone in Kentucky. But Katelyn thought that the adorable photos could somehow cheer up the Queen, who was feeling ill at the time.

Around a month and a half after sending the photo, Katelyn received a surprise letter on December 27, 2021.

The letter was addressed to Jalayne and had the royal stamp!

Katelyn shared, “It was mixed in with our other mail. I had to calm myself down and make sure not to rip the envelope.”

The letter read, “Her Majesty thought it kind of you to write to her, and The Queen was pleased to see the photograph of your daughter, Jalayne, in her splendid outfit.”

Jalayne is still too young to understand what it meant, but they all celebrated in the kitchen as she put her costume hat back on.

The letter, which will eventually be given to Jalayne when she grows up, will be framed and displayed in the family’s living room.

“I’m never going to be able to top this!” Katelyn exclaimed.
