  • Eight-year-old Tino Conboy screamed out loud when he found his younger sister Cami had fallen into their backyard pool.
  • Their mom Diana quickly pulled Cami out of the water, did CPR, while Tino called 911.
  • The mother and son team saved Cami’s life with swift action.

Eight-year-old Tino Conboy learned to scream out loud from his younger sister.  It proved to be a life-saving skill that saved her life.

While Tino and his sister Cami were playing in their home in Placerville, Tino noticed that it suddenly went quiet.  When he checked, that is when he saw his sister at the pool.  “I said, ‘Mom!’”

His mom Diana, who is a nurse, immediately responded to his scream and ran to the pool.

She pulled out Cami from the pool and started CPR and instructed Tino to call 911.

Tino said, “[Cami] couldn’t move her muscles. She couldn’t move anything, not even her eyes.”

But Diana continued administering CPR until Cami was “able to throw up and start breathing.”  Meanwhile, Tino calmly called 911, gave them their address, and told them to be there right away.

Tino said that if not for the screaming lessons from Cami, he would not have been able to get their mom’s attention easily. “Basically, Cami gave her power to me and then that’s how I had the power to scream. And then Mom came over and jumped in and got Cami out.”

Mom Diana said, “I’m just so impressed with him. He was so calm and collected.”

As a safety precaution, the family pool has already been fenced in.

The scary incident teaches us that CPR should be taught and learned by family members. The mother and son tandem also showed that that a life can be saved with calm efforts and teamwork.
