Curtis was diagnosed with cancer and he really was feeling low with the orders for him to stay 10 days at the UConn John Dempsey Hospital for his treatment.  All he could think about was for him to be at his home and strumming his guitars.

His bleak situation did not escape the caring eyes of Medical assistant Sammy Myers.  He has been at the hospital long enough to recognize patients who needed pick-me-ups.  In this case, the musician Curtis.

Sammy was thinking of a way to lift Curtis’ spirits and then remembered that his daughter had a guitar at home which has been sitting unused.  Instead of not hearing it being played, he decided on giving the guitar to Curtis.
