Pup Ignores Owners On Walk Unless Given Whipped Cream [Video]
- Loki the Golden Retriever would run off and ignore his owners during walks.
- He would only return when bribed with whipped cream!
- Other pup parents found it relatable and shared their own ways of bribing their dogs with treats.
A parent of a Golden Retriever shared how they needed to bring whipped cream to walks so that their pup would return to them.
Loki’s owner wrote, “Imagine you have to take whipped cream with you when your dog is off the leash cause otherwise he will leave you for every random person that walks by.”
In the video, we can see an off-leash Loki running off ahead of his parents, initially ignoring their calls for him to return. Suddenly, he turns around and sprints back — so he can get a dose of whipped cream!
Viewers thought whipped cream was a “great idea”
Loki’s video has since received over 411,500 views and over 21,400 likes on TikTok.
Viewers loved the whole premise. Kimberly called using whipped cream a “great idea,” and walden3 agreed: “That’s how you keep a dog and a man.”
H jested, “So if I take whipped cream with me I could get a new dog for free? Interesting.”
Laura Brady shared that they also use whipped cream to lure their collie into her crate, adding that they’ve gone through “a lot of cream” because of this.
Other pup parents were inspired to do the same, while some shared their own tricks with their beloved canines.
Waylon & Miley recommended “hot dogs,” Siobhan takes “squeezing cheese,” while Jenniferhill3019 said they always had to yell “cookies.”
Pterrypets shared, “I used to have to carry raw fish for my husky after he outgrew chicken beef and lamb. Whatever works, works.”
Heaths1010 agreed, writing, “You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
Is it safe to give your dog sugar?
There are certain foods that are known to be obviously bad for pets, such as alcohol, caffeine, and chocolate. Other lesser-known dangerous foods include fatty meats, nuts, and grapes.
Sugar is not toxic to dogs, but is unhealthy when consumed in large amounts, PetMD noted. Excessive consumption of sweet treats can cause health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and in extreme cases, pancreatitis.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) also warned against xylitol, a sweetener often found in sugar-free products.
Make sure to keep your pup’s sugar intake to a minimum to lower any risks, and consider alternatives such as apples, bananas, blueberries, and mangoes.
