While bacon isn’t toxic to cats, it’s not particularly healthy for them either.

Pet wellness experts caution that bacon contains a higher fat content than cats should consume. It’s also high in sodium, which can lead to health complications such as hypernatremia. This condition can affect a cat’s kidneys, leading to symptoms like lethargy, restlessness, diarrhea, vomiting, and even seizures.

The experts clarify, “This isn’t to say that you can’t give your cat a very tiny piece of bacon once in a while or that something terrible will happen if your kitty steals a slice of bacon from the table. But bacon, in general, isn’t the best food to give your pet.”
