Quick Smiles:
- A young meteorologist in North Carolina is recognized for his dedication and accurate weather updates.
- Fans surprise him with gratitude and the chance to meet his lifelong hero, Jim Cantore.
- His passion for weather began in childhood and continues to inspire safety and trust.
Ethan Clark, a 22-year-old meteorologist from Raleigh, North Carolina, is making waves with his reliable weather forecasts and live coverage.
His workspace may be his bedroom, but his impact reaches far and wide through his Facebook page, North Carolina’s Weather Authority, which boasts over 603,000 followers.
Clark’s fascination with the weather began early; he even dressed as the Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore for Halloween when he was just ten.
Over the years, Clark has become a trusted source of weather information across all 100 counties in North Carolina, ensuring residents stay informed and safe.
Stacy Huff, a local resident, shared her experience during a tornado threat:
“My husband, me, and the dog all crammed in the closet and listened to his livestream the whole time. It was so comforting to have that voice say, ‘Okay, now you’re out of danger, you can come out.’”
Another resident credited Clark with saving her parents during Hurricane Helene, which caused severe damage in the state.
Recently, Clark received one of North Carolina’s highest civilian honors from Governor-elect Josh Stein.
During a surprise meeting at a local restaurant, Clark was celebrated by his fans with applause and gratitude.
The young meteorologist was also thrilled to learn he would meet his hero, Jim Cantore.
“It’s a dream come true! Last week, I was given the amazing opportunity to fly to The Weather Channel’s headquarters in Atlanta and meet Jim Cantore!” Clark shared in a social media post.
Images captured the memorable moment of him shaking hands with his idol.
Reflecting on his journey, Clark wrote,
“I started this weather page when I was in middle school; most of my friends in middle and high school didn’t know about the page. I always was worried people would think I was weird, so I just didn’t talk about it.”
He continued, “I’ve always had a passion for weather, and I really and truly am at a loss for words that I got to meet someone that I dressed up as in 5th grade.”
Clark remains committed to his mission of forecasting the weather in North Carolina and expressed his gratitude to his followers for their trust and support.
