A Giving Heart Knows No Age As A 4-Yr-Old Proves [Video]

A child’s giving heart is nurtured and encouraged when he/she can see it in his/her family.  Violet Shouse of Tulsa Oklahoma is just 4 years old but her compassion for others is beyond her years. 

She has been seeing it in her own family as they all volunteer in their church’s food ministry.  It is no wonder she has developed a giving attitude.

When she saw a stranger asking for money, she asked her mom Berkeley why.  Her mom explained that she didn’t have food or a home.

She was moved to help the woman and others who are in the same situation.

Starting in October, she baked and sold rainbow focaccia bread as a fundraising for their local food bank.  She was able to purchase 10 pounds of chicken that went to hungry families.  For her act of kindness, she was recognized in the Kennedy Center’s Small Works Project.

In November, her driveway became her store for a weekend bake sale which managed to raise a total of $625!

She then placed all the money in an envelope and personally handed it to CEO Lori Long of Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.  The money would pay for more than 2,400 meals, according to Long.

With rising COVID-19 cases, the need for food has also risen.  Violet’s donation would go a long way and really touched Long.

Long said, “The work she put in and wanting to come down and present it in person with her handwritten envelope is very special.”

At four years old, Violet is a fine example of how a giving spirit can help even those far older than you are. And that a giving heart knows no age.
