The urban landscape usually doesn’t offer much in terms of sightseeing, and many city folks do not stop to admire the view. But one artist sees beauty in the otherwise mundane aspects of the city streets — and has made it a point to let others see it the way he does.

French street artist Oakoak has been slowly transforming the cityscape with art that is inspired by pop culture and cartoons. Since 2006, he has brightened the streets with art that delights and amuses passersby.

1. Oakoak, who has about 120,000 Instagram followers, writes, “This is not René Magritte.”
