  • A lamb fell off the truck that would deliver him to the slaughterhouse.
  • A kind officer brought him to a sanctuary where he had immediate surgery for his broken legs, fractured skull, and eye injury.
  • Named Constable Sam, he was given love, attention and medical care which helped him heal from his injuries.

Just out of his mother’s womb, a lamb in Victoria, Australia was sentenced to the slaughterhouse.  On his way, he fell off the truck and suffered injuries to his skull, his legs and his eye.

A highway patrol found the pitiful lamb and brought him to the nonprofit sanctuary, Edgar’s Mission.  There, he was taken to surgery.  He had two broken legs, a skull fracture and an eye injury that could render him blind.

Chances of survival were nil but they took care of him round-the-clock.  He also had feeding issues as he was not weaned from his mother.  So, the staff had to nurse him and defying all odds, he slowly healed.

In honor of the officer who brought him to the sanctuary, the little lamb was named Constable Sam.

This Five Dollar Friday update is proudly brought to you by Constable Sam! ❤️ Constable Sam recently arrived into our care after surviving a fall from a transport vehicle onto a busy highway. He sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, two broken front legs (each with double breaks), a critical injury to one eye, and multiple contusions to other parts of his little body. Your kind support has helped us provide Sam with splints for his breaks, vital medications to aid his healing, and the best veterinary care possible. We give our utmost sincere thanks to our Five Dollar Friday community and all of our generous donors and supporters because together we stand for a kinder world for all. 🙏 Find out more about joining our Five Dollar Friday Community via the link in our comments below. 👇 “If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others, why wouldn’t we?”Posted by Edgar’s Mission on Thursday, 7 April 2022

All those who knew of Constable Sam’s situation and generously donated to his recovery were updated by Edgar’s Mission for the three months that he was in therapy and treatment.

He regained his health under their care.  His skull fracture has healed, he regained his eyesight and is on his way to being a healthy young sheep even with slightly wobbly legs.

All the love and care that he has been showered with has paid off. In Edgar’s Mission post on Facebook, they said, “But this is not the only freedom the little guy shall have. For having fallen from the ‘livestock’ truck as he did that day, literally on his head, he too figuratively fell on his feet (albeit, both front legs were to receive double fractures at the time). However, by landing in the arms of kindness, a life of freedom shall now be his.”
