In these evolving times, opinions about working from home vary among people. Pets, on the other hand, are completely ecstatic about the prospect of having their owners around them all the time.

Having a pet in one’s home office often provides well-timed opportunities for breaks, enhances mental well-being, and combats feelings of isolation. However, sometimes, pets may end up causing more distraction than the work itself.

Imagine being immersed in back-to-back meetings all morning, and finally getting a breather for lunch. One owner found herself in that very situation. She decided to whip up a grilled cheese sandwich, took a few bites, and then excused herself for a quick trip to the restroom. Little did she know, her faithful canine friend was equally in need of a lunch break.

The unattended sandwich was left temptingly on the counter. Hank, her Labrador Mastiff, sensed a golden opportunity from another room. The unsuspecting dog slowly advanced toward the tantalizing treat, unaware his adventure was being recorded by a home security camera.

In a hilarious July 31 TikTok video posted on the account @hankthetank474, viewers can see Hank gracefully leap up, resting his front paws on the counter. He wasted no time in gulping down half the grilled cheese sandwich. Just when you think he might save some for his owner, Hank goes in for seconds.

One mouthful was simply not enough for Hank. Undeterred, he returned to finish off the rest of the sandwich. Hank made sure not a single crumb remained on the plate, even going the extra mile to carry off the plate with him.

The question remains, “Did he take the plate to hide the evidence or to thoughtfully clean up after himself?” Regardless, Hank managed to accomplish this all before his owner returned.

The sneaky act served as a wake-up call for the owner who humorously admitted she learned a vital lesson about leaving food unattended. She commented that she now recognizes her dog’s countertop surfing tendencies.
