Couple Returns Gold And Silver Coins Worth $15,000 Found In Their New Home

  • James and Clarrisa Munford bought a new home from a couple in South Carolina.
  • The previous owners made sure they had removed all their belongings, but James and Clarissa found a hidden treasure they must have already forgotten.
  • It was a box full of gold and silver coins which the Munfords chose to return without second thoughts.

When a couple from South Carolina decided to sell their house, they pretty much made sure that all the necessary works needed to be done were completed for the next owners of what once had been a dream home of theirs — and in which they spent 32 long years of their lives.

Repairs were done, paperwork was done, and all their belongings were already removed — or at least they thought they did.

After a few days from the turnover, the new owners, James and Clarrisa Munford, found a hidden, and forgotten, treasure of the previous owners — a box full of 50 gold and silver coins!

Technically, the Munfords already own what they unearthed in what is now their legal property. Whatever they do with the coins, which would be valued at $15,000, would be up to them.

But that is not how Munfords live their lives. The family who owns Clarrisa’s Kitchen and Catering, in Columbia, felt it’s morally upright to return the coins to its original owners, and so they called the couple to hand over their forgotten treasure.

“There is an old saying: ‘You reap what you sow,’” says the original owner, who wants to remain anonymous. “My wife and I spent a great deal of time and effort to ensure that we left our home in excellent condition for the Munfords, and one good deed was certainly returned by another!”

They were surprised and shocked to learn of the treasure and they wanted to share this inspiring story to give hope to others during these difficult times.

“Now is a good time to pause and reflect about how we treat each other. If there were more people like the Munfords, this world would be a much better place.” he said.
