Delta Air Lines pilots celebrate unique family connection in the skies

  • Father and son Rich and Cole Kaynor are both pilots at Delta Air Lines.
  • Cole initially pursued a career as an EMT, but later enrolled in flight training after a conversation with his parents.
  • In February 2022, Cole was hired by Delta to fly the A320 aircraft, and in December 2023, Rich will retire from Delta after 14 years with the company.

Rich Kaynor, a captain and managing director for Flight Training and Standards at Delta Air Lines, and his son Cole, a first officer at the same airline, share a unique bond as father and son pilots.

Cole originally pursued a career as an EMT, but after talking with his parents, he enrolled in flight training and eventually landed a job flying the A320 aircraft at Delta. In February 2022, he achieved his dream and joined his father in the skies.

They recently had a special experience flying together, with Rich retiring in December 2023 after 14 years with the company.

The Kaynor legacy will continue as Cole takes the reins and the father-son duo cherish their memories in the sky.
