Dog missing for weeks finds mom at Walmart

  • Abby, four-year-old pup, went missing for weeks.
  • Her parents searched everywhere for her but to no avail.
  • Recently, the pup made her way back home by finding her mom, a Walmart employee, at the store!

This clever pup, who went missing for weeks, must have known she could find everything at Walmart, including her mom.

Abby disappeared in Dothan, Alabama, leaving only her collar and an empty tie-out line behind.

June Rountree and her husband searched the neighborhood door-to-door to look for her, but to no avail.

Three weeks had passed and the four-year-old black-and-white pup was still nowhere to be found, until an extraordinary encounter at Walmart recently.

June, a Walmart employee working at the register, heard a fuss while on a weekend shift. A dog had gotten loose in the store and the staff couldn’t get her.

“I was like, ‘What in the world is happening?’” customer service associate Danielle Robinette told The Washington Post.

Apparently, the dog made her way through the store and proceeded right to register No. 6 which was manned by June, who was in total shock. It was Abby!

“I called her name and she came to me,” June told WaPo. “I bent over and hugged her. I completely lost it then. I couldn’t speak. I was in complete shock and just couldn’t believe it.”

It was unknown where Abby was when she was away for three weeks.

The parents were just so grateful that she was in good shape. They believed that somebody must have been feeding her even if they couldn’t catch her.

As to how Abby found her mom in Walmart, the couple thinks that the clever dog must have recognized the location as June brought her in the parking lot a few times. How the pup managed to get inside the store and braved all the hindrances remains unclear, though.

If there’s one certain thing about all this, it’s the fact that they missed Abby so much, and they would never let her out of their sight ever again.
