  • Spain is in a state of emergency and nationwide lockdown is currently in place.
  • Luis Chacón’s dog, Murphy, initially did not care much about this but when she saw that his favorite park was shut close, he realized he had to sacrifice something for the greater cause.
  • Good thing is, he’s able to spend more time with his dad at home and that makes his sacrifice more worth it.

Murphy and his dad Luis Chacón are from Spain, where it is currently in total lockdown in the efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic in their country.

The cute little dog was really not affected by this nor did he have an idea, at least initially. He was just happy to be able to spend more quality time with his dad and that was something he would not question why.

But recently, Murphy realized that even he had to sacrifice some of his freedom for the greater cause.

The dog’s favorite place to hang out is the park near where they live.

“We visit it almost daily,” Luis told The Dodo.

They both still go out for walks to get some fresh air and a little bit of exercise. But with the lockdown in place, the park was temporarily closed. With the gate closed, Murphy got a little disappointed and confused.

“He thought it was very strange that we weren’t going in,” Luis said. “It was like a learning moment.”

Murphy naturally complained but after a few minutes, it finally dawned on him; this is the kind of liberty he temporarily has to give up to make sure other people stay safe and healthy from the threats of the virus.

Besides, having to spend more time with Dad at home is what makes his little sacrifice more worth it.

Once things have stabilized, it won’t take too long for the precautionary measures to be lifted and the park will once again open up for them and for others like them who love the place. Until that time comes, it is inspiring to know that even dogs like Murphy are cooperating and doing their part to make the world a little better than it is now.
