  • Darrel is a rescue dog who is eager to learn new tricks.
  • He knows how to skateboard, turn the lights on and off, grab his mom’s credit card, and unlock doors.
  • He also knows how to play hockey.

Darrel, a rescue dog, is proof that some dogs have all the fun.

This hockey superstar enjoys scoring a goal on his first shot and then celebrating grandly.

Darrel’s mother, Hailey Adair, says her dog is creative and always ready to learn new things.

“Sometimes [he’s] a little too smart for his own good!”

Adair claims that  3-year-old Darrel knows more than a few tricks, including skateboarding, turning lights on and off, grabbing his mother’s credit card to “pay for it,” and unlocking doors.

Darrel’s most impressive feat is knocking his “puck” ball into the goal with a single shot. His hockey set comprises a net, a cup into which he shoots the “puck,” and plush animal goalies.

Adair claims she asks Darrell every day if he wants to play hockey. On occasion, he prefers doing something else.

Adair discovered her gifted puppy through Pronto Puppy, which showed his abilities. She felt right away that they were meant to be together. He even visits her at the Alzheimer’s Association’s Washington chapter where she works.

Darrel, Adair claimed, offered her a purpose throughout the pandemic.

She explained that she began working with him on hockey to see what he could do with the stick, and after a few days, he was already hitting the ball.

Though hockey is only a “hobby,” it has helped Darrel and his mother’s relationship to grow. The dog even takes part in Adair’s work to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association through “messages from Darrel” and live streams.

Adair describes Darrel as a one-of-a-kind dog:

“He loves all animals, including his guinea pig brothers and other dogs. But [he] especially loves people. He’s the kind of dog that lights up the room as soon as he walks in.”
