If you’re not a morning person, you might find a kindred spirit in a fellow dog owner who recently shared her amusing morning predicament with the internet. The woman, known as @cutelittlesnoopy on TikTok, revealed the hilarious consequences of making accidental eye contact with her Maltipoo, Snoopy, at the crack of dawn on a day off.
In the video, Snoopy can be seen energetically jumping by the side of his owner’s bed, ready to seize the day as soon as he realizes she’s awake. The caption accompanying the clip humorously states: “POV [Point of view]: It’s 7am on a Saturday and you accidentally made eye contact with your dog.” It then follows with: “Snoopy wants to play.”
This scenario is all too familiar for dog owners who often find themselves waking up early on rest days due to their furry friends’ morning enthusiasm. But why are dogs such early risers?
According to Vet Advises, a dog’s natural body clock and circadian rhythm play a significant role in their early morning wakefulness. Other factors could be hunger or thirst, the need to relieve themselves, or health issues such as arthritis, digestive problems, anxiety, or stress, which can disrupt a dog’s sleep pattern.
Pet Plan provides further insight, stating that healthy adult dogs sleep between 12 and 14 hours a day, with this duration increasing as they age. Larger breeds can even sleep up to 18 hours in a day.
The video of Snoopy’s morning antics quickly gained traction on social media, attracting viewers from across TikTok. One user, Sanaiii, commented: “My dogs just know when I’m up as soon as I open my eyes… no eye contact needed.”
