The simple joy of being a dog! It’s the epitome of wholesome fun, chasing balls and leaping into bodies of water. However, every dog owner knows that not all leaps are created equal.

Recently, a TikTok video exhibiting a Boston terrier named Kiwi performing a breathtaking dive went viral. The video was uploaded from Kiwi’s own TikTok account, @kiwitheboston, becoming an adorable highlight of an everyday game elevated to the next level.

The footage captures a typical game of fetch, with a person hurling a ball across a wide grassy field. Kiwi and another dog are seen sprinting after the ball with pure joy.

Aside from Kiwi’s charismatic sprint, the climax occurs when the ball lands in a pond at the field’s end. It’s then that Kiwi truly stands out, performing a perfect ‘glide and dive’ into the water. The post aptly captioned, “This is an Olympic dive if I’ve ever seen one.”

Kiwi’s performance resulted in a wave of admiration online. Despite claims that her size may be an advantage, it’s worth mentioning that a 2011 study from Jena University in Germany found that “all dogs run very similarly, no matter if they weigh two or eighty kilograms.”

The study elaborates, “Therefore it is not thigh and upper arm and lower leg and forearm that are correlated but the shoulder blade and the thigh, the upper arm and lower leg and forearm and middle foot. The center of rotation of the front legs is the shoulder blade which is only connected to the skeleton through the musculature. The actual shoulder joint stays nearly immobile in the dogs’ process of movement.”

TikTok users were visibly enthralled by Kiwi’s athletic prowess and elegance in the viral video. “Perfect form on the little guy!” praised Dipper’s Mom. User theway2 complimented, “What a jump for such a little man.”

Sstone733r was impressed by Kiwi’s bravery, stating, “That little dog has the heart and bravado of a big dog.” Wayne noted, “Best dog dive ever,” while user patioonthehill rated Kiwi’s dive “10 out of 10!”

Numerous other users expressed their admiration and joy in the comments, with gabrielekendall35 saying, “That was the prettiest dive, from a dog, that I’ve ever seen!” ThatNoDakguy highlighted the amazing air time Kiwi achieved in her leap.

Kellie joined the chorus for a slow-motion replay of Kiwi’s epic jump, saying, “We need a slow Mo of that jump. That was awesome.”
