  • Nash Johnson has been saving for an Xbox gaming system.
  • His plan is to apply and work as a dishwasher at Drake’s Restaurant and save more money to be able to buy the Xbox.
  • Drake’s leadership admired his determination but did not take him in as a worker due to his age but gave him an Xbox, instead.

Nash Johnson is an 8-year-old with a go-getter attitude.  And when he sets his eyes on something or a goal, he would do anything to make it happen.

This time, his target for the money that he has been saving is an Xbox gaming system.  But he still has not reached the needed cash and so he applies as a dishwasher at the new Drake’s restaurant in Lexington, Kentucky.

Nash’s mom, Belinda Johnson said, Nash has been taught to save, give and spend money. His plan to get a job to make more money has been well thought of.

And so, Nash submitted his resume online and stated that he meets the company’s need for a humble, encouraging, caring, personable, and team worker. He also said on the company’s page, “I am 8-years-old. I was hoping to work here to buy an Xbox.”

The restaurant posted the encounter on Facebook, saying, “We received an interesting application while hiring for the newest Drake’s location. Nash stated he was looking for his first job so he could save up money for an Xbox.”

But due to Nash being underage, he was not eligible to work at Drake’s yet.

He might not have passed the age requirement, but he made an impression on the restaurant’s leadership.  They invited him for a meeting and got a surprise from them — an Xbox.

Drake’s Chief Operating Officer Mark Thornburg said, “Thank you for applying for a job, and always remember, you’re part of this family.”

Nash is grateful that he was gifted with the Xbox but he is not giving up the opportunity to get a job.  He said, “I wish I had the job and the Xbox!”

Keep the attitude Nash and you’ll definitely go places.
